Everyone has a first range trip, and nobody expects you to know everything when you walk in. Here's what to expect at our indoor range in Mesa so you can relax and enjoy it.
The four rules of firearm safety
- Treat every firearm as if it's loaded. Even when you "know" it's empty.
- Never point the muzzle at anything you aren't willing to destroy. On the range, that means downrange, always.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you've decided to shoot.
- Know your target and what's beyond it.

What to bring
- A valid government-issued photo ID
- Closed-toe shoes and a high-neck shirt. Hot brass ejects from guns, and a hot case down a low collar is no fun.
- Eye and ear protection. Bring your own or ask at the counter. See range gear.
- Your firearm unloaded and cased, if you're bringing one. Uncase it only at your lane, pointed downrange.
- Ammunition. If you aren't sure whether yours is allowed, ask staff before you shoot.
Checking in
You'll sign a waiver and get a lane. You can book a lane online ahead of time. Range members book lane time free; that's the main member perk. Plan to arrive a few minutes early on your first visit.
Range commands
If anyone calls "Cease fire!", stop shooting immediately, take your finger off the trigger, set the firearm down pointed downrange, and step back from the bench. Don't touch it again until staff say the range is clear.
Range etiquette
- Stay in your own lane, and keep the muzzle pointed downrange the whole time.
- Never go forward of the firing line.
- If hot brass lands on you, don't turn around or wave the gun. Point it downrange, set it down, then deal with the brass.
- Have a malfunction? Keep it pointed downrange and ask staff for help. That's what we're here for.
- Don't coach strangers. If something looks unsafe, tell staff.
